Pakistan has set PKR 179,689 as the minimum Nisab of Zakat for the Zakat Year 1445-46 AH (2025), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety.
The Nisab represents the minimum amount of savings or wealth upon which Zakat is applicable under the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance, 1980.
The first day of Ramadan likely to fall on March 1 or 2, 2025 (subject to moon sighting) has been designated as the Zakat deduction date. Zakat will be deducted from:
However, no Zakat will be deducted if the balance in these accounts is less than PKR 179,689 on the deduction date.
The ministry has directed all banks and financial institutions to comply with the Zakat Nisab guidelines and deduct Zakat at source from eligible accounts. All Zakat Collection & Controlling Agencies (ZCCAs) are requested to ensure timely deductions and deposits of the collected amounts.
The Nisab of Zakat represents the minimum threshold of wealth upon which Muslims are obliged to pay 2.5% of their savings annually as a charity under Islamic law. The amount is typically calculated based on the market value of 52.5 tolas (612.36 grams) of silver.
