Turkish influencer and Urdu-speaking digital creator Türkan Atay has publicly accused prominent Pakistani fashion designer Maria B of non-payment following a brand collaboration. Atay, known affectionately as “Pakistani Bhabhi” for her strong ties with the country, took her Instagram to voice her concerns.

A Collaboration Gone Wrong
Türkan, who completed her education in Pakistan and is married to her university friend Zaka, has amassed a strong following of over 850,000 on Instagram, largely due to her Urdu-language content and relatability.
Earlier this year, Maria B’s team allegedly contacted Türkan for a photoshoot campaign in Turkey. In her video, Türkan shared that she had quoted her per-dress charges, covering local expenses such as venue bookings, models, and styling costs, which are standard practice for Turkish shoots. Despite sending a formal quotation, she claims she was paid a lump sum, less than what was agreed.
Türkan Atay Speaks Out
“It’s been three months. They’ve wasted my time and are treating me like a fool,” Türkan said in a video statement. “I have every right to demand my money back, and I will never work with them again. Their behavior is unprofessional.”
She also stated that Maria B’s team changed their stance, later claiming they pay per reel and not per outfit, something Türkan says was never agreed upon.

Türkan further alleged that Maria B deleted her WhatsApp messages, but added, “I’ve saved all the chats and will share screenshots. If there was nothing to hide, why delete messages?”
Maria B Responds
Maria B’s team released a formal response:
“We value our partnerships with content creators and have a strong record of fair practices. The issue with Türkan was a misunderstanding, and at no point was the payment denied. A meeting was proposed to resolve the matter amicably, but the influencer chose to go public instead.”
The designer emphasised that Maria B has a 25-year history of professional integrity and has collaborated with hundreds of influencers without incident.
Public Reaction and Backlash
Social media has since erupted with heated commentary. Many users supported Türkan, accusing Maria B of “playing the religion card” and exhibiting double standards. Others noted that payment issues are widespread in the fashion and influencer industry.
“Maria B has finally been exposed,” one commenter wrote.
“All brands do this,” another added.
As the debate continues online, Türkan has maintained her stance and promises to release further evidence.
